The Challenge
With more than 600 occupations to manage — from librarian to liquor
store clerk to public safety officer — the Montgomery County (Md.)
Government needed to transform its paper-based hiring system to more efficiently
manage the 35,000 job applications it receives each year. Montgomery County’s
Office of Human Resources wanted to rapidly attract new candidates, improve
customer service and implement an application process that accommodated
the digital world but also included applicants without internet access.
The ideal system would deliver better information to constituents and support
the County’s commitment to becoming a digital government.

The Solution
To move its processes online, Montgomery County chose the Peopleclick®
Recruitment Management System (RMS), a web-based solution that automates,
streamlines and manages the employment process from application through
hire. Montgomery County chose Peopleclick for its configurable workflows
and role-based customization, which meant RMS could easily adapt to its
existing processes. In addition, Peopleclick RMS provided Montgomery
County Human Resources personnel with the ability to view applications
online at all hiring stages, from candidate identification and prescreening
through qualification, selection and results measurement.
